Rowan weather: Storms tonight could be severe

While the morning should be fine, with a slight chance of showers, the threat of showers and thunderstorms increases this afternoon and tonight.

It will be mostly cloudy and 72, with a 40 percent chance of rain after 2 p.m. Southeast wind will blow at 8-14 mph, with gusts around 22 mph.

Tonight has a 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, along with patchy fog. These storms could bring frequent lightning, damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall. Tornado formation cannot be ruled out.

The low will be 57, with east southeast wind at 14-18 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. A half to three-quarters inch of rain is possible.

Friday has a 30 percent chance of showers and storms and will be partly sunny and 65. South southwest winds will be at 9-13 mph, gusting to 21 mph.

The same chance of showers hangs around Friday night, with a low of 48 and south southwest wind at 5-8 mph.

Saturday will be partly sunny and 68, with a 20 percent chance of showers. West wind will blow at 6-10 mph, with gusts up to 18 mph. Saturday night will also have a 20 percent chance of showers, with a low of 45.

But the sun returns Sunday, with a high of 67 and an overnight low around 43.

Monday, too, will be sunny, with a high of 69 and a low of 45.

Tuesday will be sunny again, with a high of 73 and a low of 54.

And we get warmer Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and a high near 79.
