SALISBURY — The Livingstone College Children’s Book Festival drew dozens of people to the Monroe Street campus on Saturday to play in a bounce house, hear stories and music, enjoy food and pick out books to call their own.

Willa Brigham, host of the WRAL television show “Smart Start,” was a guest storyteller. Also a performing artist, writer and inspirational speaker, Brigham talked about reading and invited the children to play instruments.

The band Healing Force set the tone for the celebration.

The festival is held each year in memory of Salisbury’s own international storyteller, Jackie Torrence, also known as “The Story Lady.”

Platinum sponsors were Salisbury Community Foundation and Edward and Susan Norvell. Bronze sponsors were Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Woodforest National Bank and Coca-Cola. Supporting sponsors were F&M Bank and Novant Health.
