FAITH — The second annual Jesse’s Ride and Run for PTSD awareness will be May 6 at Faith American Legion Park, 115 Gantt St.

The ride is named for Jesse Ray Ours, an Army veteran of Iraq who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and committed suicide April 22, 2013. He was a son of Organ Lutheran Church’s pastor, the Rev. Carlin Ours, who is the event’s main organizer.

Registration for both the poker ride for vehicles and the 5K run and walk for others starts at 8 a.m.

The poker run will begin and end at Legion Park with three stops in between. Maps of the ride route will be available at the registration desk.

“We invite any road-worthy vehicle to participate,” Ours said. “The ride is not limited to motorcycles.”

The first bikes and other vehicles are out at 10 a.m.; the last, at 2 p.m.

The 5K run will begin at 9 a.m., starting and ending at Legion Park.

“Everyone is encouraged to participate in the run event,” Ours said. “For those who don’t run, walking is encouraged. Each participant — runner or rider — will be fed.”

The $25 cost for the ride or run includes a barbecue meal and ticket for door prizes.

Nostalgia B will provide the main entertainment. School groups are welcome at a discounted admission price.

People who have show cars or bikes, antique cars or bikes or any other military-style vehicles are welcome to display them.

“At this time, we are still looking for corporate sponsors to help offset the price of the event or who can donate door prizes,” Ours said.

Proceeds go to Honor One, which provides help to military, fire, police and first-responders suffering with PTSD.
