LANDIS — Torrential rain ensured a quiet meeting in Landis on Monday evening.
The Board of Aldermen postponed two agenda items — an executive session and a public hearing on a conditional-use permit for an essential services communications tower on Pinnacle Way Drive.
Town Manager Reed Linn said that his staff is still seeking information on the tower and the town needs to consult with an attorney about a few items.
With that cleared from the agenda, the board set dates for two budget workshops later this spring. At its March meeting, the board agreed to forego its usual budget retreat, when town departments present budget requests and the board hears from ElectriCities. Mayor Mike Mahaley said those days are rarely fruitful for anyone involved.
“It just got out of hand,” he said.
Instead, the board chose to jump straight into budget workshops. Traditionally, Landis has held those workshops on Saturday. This year, the board decided to shift days.
“I’d rather do it on, like, a Friday — Thursday or Friday,” Mahaley said.
The board set two workshops, one for 6 p.m. April 27 and one at 6 p.m. May 18, both Thursdays.
The dates were unanimously approved. Alderman Seth Moore was absent.
In other business:
- The Public Works Department announced that it has begun summer hours. The department will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Corriher-Lipe Middle School will have a community day Saturday. The event will feature a 5k run from 9 a.m. to noon, a car show and a yard sale.
