Rowan weather: Showery week ahead

Expect cloudy skies today, with some fog this morning, and a warm high of 76. A 30 percent chance of showers will include thunderstorms after 1 p.m. South southwest winds will blow around 5-9 mph, except stronger in thunderstorms. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Strong thunderstorms are possible this evening, with frequent lightning, heavy rainfall and gusty winds. A few storms could become severe, with hail the size of quarters possible.

The chance of rain is 50 percent. Fog may move in after 2 a.m., with a low of 57. A tenth to a quarter inch of rain is possible, especially in thunderstorms.

Tuesday has a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. But it will be partly sunny and quite warm again, with a high of 78. South southwest winds will be at 6-9 mph. Another tenth of an inch or more of rain is possible.

Skies will clear Tuesday night, with a low of 54 and northwest wind at 3-5 mph.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and 76, with calm wind becoming north northeast at 5-7 mph.

Rain chances return Wednesday night, with a 20 percent chance of showers. The low will be 51, with mostly cloudy skies.

Thursday’s chance of showers is 30 percent, with showers before 2 p.m., an hour or so of rain, then back to showers. It will be mostly cloudy and cooler, with a high of 61.

The chance of showers goes up to 60 percent Thursday night, mainly after midnight. It will be cloudy with a low of 50.

Showers are likely Friday before 11 a.m., then showers and thunderstorms for the rest of the day. The chance of rain is 70 percent, with a high of 68 under cloudy skies.
