Rowan weather: Sunny, cool and windy

Those severe storms last night brought in much cooler air, but they left the wind with us.

Today will be 58 and sunny, but northwest wind will blow at 10-13 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. Tonight will be clear and cold, with a low of 33. West northwest wind will blow at 3-7 mph.

Friday will be sunny, too, and cooler, with a high of 54. Winds will start from the southwest at 5-14 mph, then shift to the northwest in the afternoon and gust up to 23 mph.

Friday also brings the danger of wildfires with the wind and humidity below 20 percent.

Friday night’s low of 26 means big trouble for the plants and trees that have already bloomed. Budding fruit trees, grape vines and strawberries will suffer. North northwest wind at 5-7 mph will calm, making the frigid temperatures even worse for growers. Some areas will see patchy frost, others a hard freeze.

More sun and cool air for Saturday, with a high of 55 and light winds. The low will be below freezing again, around 30 degrees. Frost or freeze warnings may be issued.

It will warm up a little Sunday, with a high of 61 under mostly sunny skies. Sunday’s low will be 40.

Monday will be partly sunny and 70, with a warm low of 48.

A 30 percent chance of rain comes in Tuesday, with partly sunny skies and a high near 70. The chance of rain increases to 40 percent Tuesday night, with a low of 46.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and 68.
