On Feb. 28, Adam Miller will perform as part of the Friends of the Rowan Public Library and Cheerwine Concert series. The event will be held in the Stanback Auditorium at RPL Headquarters, located at 201 W. Fisher St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert begins at 7 p.m. This event is open to the public, and admission is free. All ages are welcome.

An American folksinger and storyteller, Miller accompanies his baritone voice with finger-picking acoustic guitar and autoharp melodies. According to the California Bluegrass Association, the result is “a melodious tapestry.”

Miller is also a folklorist and historian. “I have always had a great interest in how folksongs travel through history, and how history travels through folksongs,” says Miller. He began collecting old songs while still in grade school, and, armed with an audio-graphic memory and an ear for melody, his childhood ambition was to learn every song he heard. He has now amassed a repertoire of over 5,000 songs. He seeks to educate and entertain his audiences, weaving together folksongs and their behind-the-scenes stories.

Miller travels 70,000 miles a year and performs over 200 concerts annually, from the Everglades to the Arctic Circle. Over one million American K-12 students have attended his “Singing Through History!” school assembly programs. He has also performed in over 2,000 American public libraries across 48 states.
