Connie Basinger, president of Meals on Wheels of Rowan announced that Executive Director Rita Sims is retiring after 11 years of service.

Basinger said, “Rita is passionate about providing nutritionally balanced meals to homebound seniors across Rowan County. She has led a small staff and weekly army of volunteers who provide a safety check and offer clients a bit of socialization with the delivery of a hot meal. We appreciate Rita’s service, leadership and commitment to the homebound citizens of Rowan County.”

Meals on Wheels of Rowan is a non-profit agency. Meals are provided at cost on a sliding scale based on ability to pay. Funding is provided by donations from individuals, businesses, foundations and an allocation from the Rowan County United Way.
