SALISBURY — A police narcotics investigation led detectives to arrest a man with a felony record on weapons and drugs charges.

Salisbury Police charged Matthew Grey Morris, 26, of the 600 block of Ferndale Drive, with felony possession of firearm by a felon, felony possession of a controlled substance Schedule I, felony maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for controlled substance, and felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance schedule II.

Police said they seized 2.7 grams of powder cocaine that were divided into five plastic baggies, 5.8 grams of marijuana and 3.7 grams of heroin. Investigators also seize plastic bags, scales and other paraphernalia.

Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said three firearms were found at the home, but two of them legally belonged to two other men who lived there. The third weapon did belong to Morris, who is a felon and therefore is not legally allowed to possess a gun.

Lingle said the investigation also included undercover buys.

Morris was convicted in April 2012 of being a felon in possession of a firearm following two arrests in April 2011 and June 2011. He has also been charged with felony larceny from a person, drug possession, as well as resisting arrest, driving while license revoked, driving while impaired and reckless driving.

He remains in the Rowan County jail under a $125,000 secured bond.
