Rowan weather: Watch that snow melt

What a surprise it was to wake up to rain today. Expect more showers through early afternoon, then patchy fog this evening.

It will be cloudy, with a high of 49. The rain and higher temperatures should combine to melt a lot of the snow. South southwest winds will blow at 3-6 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Tonight we’ll see some dense fog and it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 45. South winds will blow at 5-7 mph.

And yet more fog will greet us Thursday morning, as warm temperatures continue and any remaining snow should melt. Skies will turn partly sunny and we’ll have a warm high of 62, with south southwest wind at 7-11 mph. The low will be equal to Wednesday’s high, 49, with more southwest wind at 3-7 mph.

Friday will be a taste of spring, with partly sunny skies and a high of 67. We’ll also have a 20 percent chance of afternoon showers. The chance of rain goes up to 40 percent Friday night, with a low of 42.

Saturday cools down again, and has that same 40 chance of showers. It will be cloudy with a high of 48. Saturday night’s low will be 41.

Sunday will be partly sunny and warmer, with a high of 58. The low will be 44.

For Martin Luther King Jr. Day, expect more clouds and a high of 57. The low will be 47.

Then we have a 30 percent chance of rain Tuesday, with mostly cloudy skies and a high of 61.

Remember, in North Carolina, if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes.
