Rowan weather: Another nice day, but rain is ahead

All this warm weather makes it feel as if spring is about to arrive, but we’ll have some cold temps come Friday.

Today will be sunny and 58, with calm wind becoming north around 6 mph. Tonight brings a 50 percent chance of showers, mainly after midnight, with a low of 41. Calm wind will become south at 5-7 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Thursday will also have a 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before noon. It will gradually clear, leading to a high of 57. South southwest winds at 6-11 mph will become west at 12-17 mph in the afternoon, with gusts up to 29 mph. Between a tenth and a quarter inch of rain is possible.

Thursday night will be clear and cold, with a low of 30 and west winds at 10 mph.

Friday will be sunny and much cooler, with a high of just 44. West northwest winds will blow at 8-16 mph, with gusts up to 28 mph, making it feel even colder. Friday night’s low will be just 25 degrees.

Saturday will be mostly sunny and 50, but a 40 percent chance of showers moves in after 9 p.m., making a damp New Year’s Eve. The low will be 38.

New Year’s Day has a 50 percent chance of showers, with cloudy skies and a high near 50. Showers are likely Sunday night, with a 60 percent chance. The low will be 43.

Monday has a 70 percent chance of rain, with a high of 56. The chance drops to 50 percent Monday night, with a low of 48.

Tuesday will have a 30 percent chance of showers, be partly sunny, and have a high of 62.
