SALISBURY — Members of the Steppin’ Out Social Club hope another social or human services group will match or exceed their contribution to the Christmas Happiness Fund. It’s a challenge they gladly call for, said President Helen Corpening.
“We are a diverse in age group of ladies. We work in the community and help where ever help is needed,” Corpening said.
She said recently the group, whose members are aged 30 to 65, fed 187 people at the homeless shelter.
They’ve contributed to the Christmas Happiness Fund for the last five years.
The community makes contributions to the Christmas Happiness Fund. Those who give send donations to the Salisbury Post by hand delivery during business hours or by mail. The money is totaled by the Post business office staff and then is given to the Salvation Army of Rowan County to distribute to eligible families.
Contributions to Christmas Happiness may be delivered to the Salisbury Post, 131 W. Innes St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or mailed to Salisbury Post Christmas Happiness Fund, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, N.C. 28145-4639. Please make checks payable to Christmas Happiness Fund and indicate how you want your donation listed.
Today’s contributions are:
In memory of Doris Langlais, West and Rosemary Spain, and Tami Duke by Charlie, Patsy & Charles Langlais $100
