Morty Pride Meats, Inc. recalls pork barbecue products

WASHINGTON — Morty Pride Meats, Inc. based in Fayetteville, is recalling about 237,891 pounds of pork barbecue because of misbranding and undeclared allergens, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The products were produced with Worcestershire sauce that contains soy, a known allergen which was not declared on the finished product label.

The items were produced and packaged from Nov. 15, 2014 through Nov. 11, 2016.

The items subject to recall are the five pound of vacuum sealed bags of “Morty Pride Pork Barbeque, Electronically Cooked” and 12-ounce plastic cups of “Morty Pride Premium Pork Barbeque, Electronically Cooked.”

The products will have the establishment number “EST. 6668” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were shipped to institutions and retail locations in North and South Carolina.
