Rowan weather: Code Orange air day, and warm
Published 8:13 am Thursday, November 17, 2016
The air quality today is Code Orange, with the alert in effect until midnight for fine particulates — smoke from the wildfires again.
Code Orange means the air will be unhealthy for sensitive groups, such as older adults, children, active people and those with heart or lung disease. Limit prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.
The wildfire danger will be high on Saturday due to a cold front that will bring gusty winds and very dry air. Sunday will be high, as well. Outdoor burning is NOT allowed on Code Orange days.
You may see some patchy for and/or smoke this morning, then it will be sunny and warm up to 69 degrees, with little wind.
Tonight, you may see smoke and fog again, especially after 9 p.m. The low will be 39, with no wind.
Friday will include areas of smoke and patchy fog before 8 a.m., then it will be sunny and quite warm, with a high of 74. Wind will become south southwest in the afternoon. The low will be 45.
Saturday will be sunny and 65. It will be quite breezy, with south southwest winds at 6-11 mph, shifting to the west northwest at 15-20 mph. Gusts could reach 29 mph. The low will be a very cold 29 degrees.
Sunday will be sunny and 49, with another low of 29.
Monday, too, will be sunny, with a high of 52 and a low of 30.
More of the same Tuesday, with a high of 57 and a low of 36.
For Wednesday, look for partly sunny skies and a high near 61.
