Jenkins named editor at The Dispatch
SALISBURY — Scott Jenkins, news editor at the Salisbury Post since 2010, has been named editor of The Dispatch in Lexington.
He starts his new job Monday.
Jenkins, 49, came to work at the Salisbury Post in 1999 as education reporter. Through the years, he has covered government, business and Kannapolis. He won several awards from the North Carolina Press Association.
Jenkins will lead The Dispatch’s news coverage and write regular columns and editorials. The paper publishes five days a week.
At one time part of the New York Times Co., The Dispatch is owned by Gatehouse Media, which owns over a dozen publications in the state, including the Gaston Gazette, Wilmington Star-News and the Times-News of Burlington.
Jenkins succeeds Chad Killebrew, who left The Dispatch in August to begin a teaching career.
