Catawba student hit by car on campus
SALISBURY — A Catawba College student was hospitalized Wednesday night after being hit by a car on West Innes Street.
Erin Madison Moore, a sophomore, and her roommate were crossing West Innes near North Park Drive to the Hollifield Residence Hall about 6:30 p.m. when Moore was hit by the vehicle, said college spokeswoman Tonia Black-Gold.
Moore was taken to Novant Rowan Medical Center and was in good condition on Wednesday night, a hospital spokesperson said.
Black-Gold said Moore was conscious and speaking and that her parents were on their way to meet Moore at the hospital.
Officers from the Catawba Public Safety Office and the Salisbury Police Department responded to the accident.
A Salisbury Police shift commander said Wednesday night he didn’t know how fast the car was traveling or whether the driver would face charges.
