Congresswoman Alma Adams, state officials to announce East Spencer Housing Preservation Grant award

EAST SPENCER — Congresswoman Alma Adams and other state officials are expected to announce this Wednesday the town of East Spencer has received a USDA housing preservation grant.
The $75,000 grant will be used to assist about a half dozen low and very-low income households in the community to make needed repairs or improvements to their homes.
Under Secretary for Rural Development Lisa Mensah and USDA State Director Randy Gore are also expected to attend. The announcement will take place at 9 a.m. at town hall, 105. S. Long St.
There will be certain criteria homeowners must meet, including having a gross annual adjusted income below 50 percent of the median income of $41,495 for Rowan County. Priority will be given to households below 30 percent of median income for the county.
