Ledford broke the tie with 17 minutes left and then held on.
Salisbury had a Luke Holland goal waved off with less than a minute left in the match. Santiago Caballero sent a free kick into the box that saw no less than eight players attempt to get a head on the ball.
“Very proud of our guys,” coach Matt Parrish said. “Coming off of a tough match on Wednesday, and again without Andrew Kalogeromitros (ankle), we fought all the way to the final whistle. It is very tough to stomach, considering the way the last minute went, but hopefully that provides some fuel to the fire for the playoffs.”
Jack Fisher was outstanding in goal, making 12 saves.
Now the waiting game begins for playoff seeding for the Hornets.
Salisbury (13-4-4) won’t take the field again for 16 days. (Nov. 5).
