SALISBURY — Police say two teens are accused of ripping up Trump campaign signs at the Rowan County Republican headquarters in Salisbury.

County Commissioner Craig Pierce reported the Tuesday incident to police after he saw the teens tear the signs and confronted them. The headquarters is located at the intersection of 100 East Henderson and North Main streets.

The teens told Pierce, “everybody is tearing up these signs,” and then they ran off.

The youth are described as two young black males, one of whom had red jeans, a white shirt and black and white shoes. The other had on black jeans and was wearing a white shirt. Both boys had short dreadlocks.

They ran in the direction of East 11th Street. Police Capt. Shelia Lingle has said this sort of thing happens every election year. The crime is a misdemeanor damage to property offense. It’s not the first time Trump campaigns signs were vandalized.

Local resident Ronnie Smith reported the theft of a number of signs in his Country Club Hills neighborhood.
