William F. Retallick Certified Public Accountant announces move

William F. Retallick Certified Public Accountant announces the relocation of his long established accounting practice to 118 E. Council St., Suite 5, effective Oct. 1.

He has been a licensed North Carolina certified public accountant since 1974 and is also an IRS approved tax return preparer. He will continue to offer his services in matters of income tax filings, taxpayer advocacy, litigation support and income tax and financial consulting.

Merrell Family Dentistry welcomes new staff member

Dr. Will Curtis of Mooresville has joined the staff at Merrell Family Dentistry in Landis. A native of Mooresville, Dr. Curtis is a graduate of UNC and earned his masters from Mississippi College. He graduated from East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine with honors and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The son of Margaret and Brent Curtis, he and his wife Cac have a young son, Fin.

Merrell Family Dentistry has five dentists on staff, Dr. Lucas Merrell, Dr. Kristy Wiseman, Dr. Curtis, Dr. Raymond Lassiter and Dr. John Kesler.

The office is located at 702 S. Highland Ave. in Landis. Their website is merrellfamilydentistry.com. Office hours are 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., 2 – 5 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Friday.

The Arc of Rowan recognized by The Arc of North Carolina

The Arc of North Carolina recently announced statewide distinguished award winners from across the state at this years’ annual conference in Charlotte.

The Arc of Rowan was presented with the Distinguished Affiliate Award for extraordinary contribution within the community of intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Local affiliated chapters are the lifeblood of The Arc. The chapters are all different and reflective of their community but they all share the same values and commitment to the mission of The Arc.

Chapters that receive this distinction have met set criteria in specific categories. Categories include, advocacy, community education and awareness, support of self-advocacy, fundraising, communications, diversity efforts and chapter management.

“It’s because of the hard work, dedication and commitment that people across North Carolina are being served with quality care. The Arc is proud to honor The Arc of Rowan with the coveted Distinguished Affiliate Award,” said John Nash, executive director of The Arc of NC.
