CHINA GROVE — The Main Street Mission Community BASH is set for Saturday, Sept. 24, at 308 S. Main St., China Grove.

The BASH (Building Awareness, Sustainability and Hope) serves as the kick-off for Main Street Mission’s new capital campaign. The $400,000 effort will renovate a former laundromat adjacent to the mission into a food pantry, with the main building being used solely for community programs. Tom Smith, a China Grove native and former CEO of Food Lion, made the lead gift for the $400,000 campaign, and Fred Corriher is serving as the campaign’s informal fundraiser.

An open house takes place from 4:30 to 6 p.m., with dinner and live music to follow at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person, and all money raised goes directly to the capital campaign.
