SALISBURY — Salisbury resident Lamont Rahen Thomas, 41, has been identified as the passenger killed in a weekend crash on Old Mocksville Road, officials said Tuesday. The driver, Demario Jefferies, 31, also died at the scene.

Salisbury Police said the single-vehicle crash occurred Sunday night just before 8 p.m. in the 1800 block of Old Mocksville Road, not far from Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church.

Police officials said Jefferies lost control of the 2002 Jaguar he was driving, overcorrected and hit several trees before he came to a stop. Authorities said speed appeared to be a factor in the accident. Both men were wearing seat belts.
