Fifth Sunday service at the Guiding Light

There will be a fifth Sunday service on Sunday, held at the Guiding Light Missionary Baptist AssociationBuilding. The 11 a.m. speaker will be Lucille Ledbetter of Highpoint.

 

First Presbyterian 

Teens With A Mission (TWAM), First Presbyterian’s high school mission group, recently returned from their 2016 TWAM Mexico Mission Trip, where they built two houses for those in need, volunteered at an orphanage and visited with residents in a nursing home. This group, along with their leaders, will share their experiences during all three worship services. Sunday sanctuary services are at 8:30 and 11 a.m. and thecontemporary Life Center worship is at 8:50 a.m. and will have a special emphasis on the TWAM mission trip.

 

Mt. Moriah LutheranBluegrass Worship

CHINA GROVE — Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, 750 Mt. Moriah Church Road, will have a “Bluegrass Worship” on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The hymns for the day will be older familiar ones and there will be special musicians adding the Bluegrass sound as well as playing some special Bluegrass songs. Host pastor is Joseph Tallent.

 

Boxwood holds eighth Pastor’s Aid anniversary 

MOCKSVILLE — The Pastor’s Aid committee of Boxwood Missionary Baptist Church will be holding  its eighth Pastor’s Aid anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. Dinner is at 1:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Bishop Jasper Harrison of New Beginnings Ministry in High Point.  Host pastor is the Rev. Gary S. Milton.

 

Emmanuel Baptist fifth Sunday singing

During the Sunday evening 6 p.m. service, Emmanuel Baptist Church will host the gospel group The Pioneers. The church is located at 2300 Bringle Ferry Road.

 

In My Father’s House Outreach Ministries

In My Father’s House Outreach Ministries, led by the Rev. Roosevelt Jenkins, meets the first two Thursdays of each month. The next meetings are  Aug. 4 and 11, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Hurley Room at Rowan Public Library, 201 W. Innes St. For more information, call 704-492-6086.

 

Women’s appreciation luncheon

LEXINGTON – Jewels of Destiny Prayer Ministry will host a women’s appreciation luncheon on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Blessing of God Ministry, 412 WestSide Drive. The theme is Women of Wisdom, Breaking Barriers, Empowered to Serve, honoring special women that have played an important part in our lives. This luncheon is free. Rose Hill Baptist celebrates 75 years

KANNAPOLIS – Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 216 Rice St., will celebrate its 75th anniversary beginning on Saturday, Aug. 6 with Community Day. The Rev. Keith Gaston Jr. is host pastor.

Community Day is at the church from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and includes representatives from the fire department, blood pressure checks, bouncy houses, Zumba class, games, as well as clothes, household items and school supplies give-aways. Hotdogs, hamburgers and drinks will be served. Everything is free.

On Sunday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. 75 Years of Music will be presented featuring the Rose Hill Mass Choir. Brunch will be served after the service.

Saturday, Aug. 13: The anniversary banquet will be held at Living Water Church of God, 166 North Little Texas Road, Kannapolis. The Rev. Dr. Leonzo D. Lynch from Ebenezer Baptist Church, Charlotte, will be the guest speaker. The banquet will feature a fashion show, a catered meal and gift card give-away. The anniversary will conclude with a 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Aug. 14 with guest speaker Rev. Dr. Casey R. Kimbrough, pastor of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Charlotte.

 

Kirkwood Presbyterian movie

KANNAPOLIS – Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 900 Klondale Ave, will be showing the movie “The Kite Runner” on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m., a story of friendship and love. Free popcorn and drink.
