MOORESVILLE — A Mooresville man has been arrested and charged in the beating death of his 79-year-old mother.

Michael Reid Frye, 55, was caught in Kannapolis today and charged with murder. He is being held with no bond.

His mother, Barbara Frye, 79, of Alexander Acres in Mooresville, was found with life-threatening injuries in her home early Monday. She was taken to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, but died from her injuries.

After she was discovered, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office released a photo of her son, asking for help in finding Michael Frye.

There are no details yet about how Michael Frye was found.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies had responded to Barbara Frye’s home before on an assault call, but she refused to press charges.
