SALISBURY — Pittsburgh Steelers’ Javon Hargrave will be signing autographs at a Bounce City community event on Friday.

Bounce City will be hosting its first event celebrating local youth from 4 to 8 p.m.

Jehan Davis, co-owner of Bounce City, recently announced to the Salisbury City Council that she would be starting a multicultural coalition program to help decrease crime in the community by keeping youth occupied with events and discussions.

The slogan for the program is “Come in Unity with the Community.”

The event is for children ages 1 to 16. Admission is free and there will be bouncing, music, karaoke, entertainment, dancing, ice cream, slushies, popcorn and beverages, according to Bounce City’s Facebook page.

Hargrave, a Salisbury native, will be at Bounce City at 5:30 p.m.

Bounce City, the city of Salisbury, Downtown Salisbury, Inc., St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Spotlight Dance Company, Crosby Scholars and 2 Girls & a Mic have provided sponsorship and support.

Davis has previously said that she wants the events to be a place where young people can hang out and display their talents, but also a place where they can discuss the issues that are important to them.

She said that she hoped to provide information about community resources and universities and technical schools while linking young people to adults who can serve as mentors.

Davis plans to continue the program throughout the summer and possibly into the fall.
