Rowan weather: Weekend will be dangerously hot

No rain in the forecast for the rest of the week; instead, we’ll have to deal with extreme heat.
Today will be sunny and 90, with little wind, around 6 mph from the north northeast. Tonight’s low will be 69, with partly cloudy skies.
Thursday will be mostly sunny and 89, with light wind. The low will be 70, with warm breezes from the south southwest at 3-5 mph.
Friday’s high will be 93, with a west southwest wind at 3-5 mph. The low will be a sticky 72.
Excessive heat is possible Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday’s heat index in a range from 100 to 108 degrees. Sunday will be the hottest day of the week, with heat index values of 105 or greater.
Everyone should avoid prolonged activity outdoors. Drink plenty of water, check on the elderly and make sure pets have somewhere to cool off.
Saturday will be mostly sunny and 96. The low will be 74, quite warm.
Sunday’s high will be 97, with mostly sunny skies. Again, the low will be 74.
Monday has a 30 percent chance of showers and storms, but will still be very hot, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 95. The same chance of rain holds for Monday night, with a low of just 73.
Tuesday will be hot, too, with a high of 92 under partly sunny skies and a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
