UPDATE: Victim identified on Ellis Loop Road

Update: 2:30 p.m. The victim has been identified as Joyce Ann Trexler.

Her grandson, Curtis Trexler, 31 is the suspect. He is being held in jail with no bond.

At about 5:07 this morning, the Rowan County 911 Center received a 911 call from 295 Ellis Loop Road.  The caller reported that a person was down and needed immediate medical assistance.

Units from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Rowan County EMS and the fire department were dispatched. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found the original caller and also located the victim, who was determined to be deceased. The caller reported he had attempted CPR.

At present, Rowan County Sheriff’s investigators are still processing the scene, talking with neighbors in the area, and following up on any leads that they have been able to develop. Investigators do have a person of interest in this case that they are talking with at present.

Once proper next of kin notification has been completed, the RCSO will release additional information on this case.

Further releases will be made as soon as information becomes available.
