Area Sports Briefs: Carson Junior Legion moves to 14-3

Carson’s Junior American Legion baseball team won, 9-3, against Stanly County on Tuesday.
Carson is 14-3 overall and 4-0 in league play.
Matt Donahue pitched a complete game and struck out six.
Karson Beacham and Cole Hales had two hits each. Devan Gay drove in three runs.
Carson plays Lake Norman tonight at South Iredell High.

Carson won, 9-7, against the Mooresville Legends on Monday.
Luke Barringer pitched five strong innings as Carson took a 9-1 lead.
Gay retired the last two hitters for a save.
Daniel Leonard had the big blow for Carson with a three-run triple in the first inning.
Brycen Holshouser had two hits.
Hales and Cameron Prugh sparked the defense.

Rowan Junior Legion pounded Mooresville, 10-0, on Tuesday.

American Legion
Rowan County will play in a tournament/college showcase at Shelby on Saturday.
Rowan plays Cherryville at 10 a.m. and takes on Shelby at 1 p.m.
Randolph County plays Cherryville at 4 p.m. and battles Shelby at 7 p.m.

Minor leagues
Four Kannapolis Intimidators helped the Northern Division All-Stars top the Southern Division, 2-1, in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game played in Lexington, Ky., on Tuesday.

The Corbin Hills Women’s Golf Association played a low gross, low net event on Tuesday.
Winners:
First Flight: 1st Low Gross – Azalee Story, 1st Low Net – Becky Isenhour, 2nd Low Net – Beth Calhoun. Second Flight: 1st Low Gross – Eileen Full, 1st Low Net— Bev Cobb, 2nd Low Net – Carolynn Ries.

Sixty-eight GARS members played in foursomes at Lexington Golf Club.
Low ‘A’ Flight player was Donald Martin with a net of 65.56. Low ‘B’ Flight player was Lou Manning with a net of 63.64. Low ‘C’ Flight player was John Cress with a net of 68.05.
Low ‘D’ Flight player was John Rader with a net of 70.27.
Johnny Shook made a hole-in-one on the 139-yard No. 16 hole. Bill Saundrs made an eagle 2 on the par-4, 296-yard 15th hole.
