Fundraising for All-America trip tops $23,000

SALISBURY — More than $23,000 has been raised to send a Salisbury delegation to the All-America City competition in Denver, Colo., later this week.

The city and the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce hope to raise $30,000 to cover transportation and lodging for children and adults who will be part of Salisbury’s presentation. So far the total raised is $$23,485

New donors include Mr. Cone, the Mynatt Family, Council Member David Post, the Salisbury-Rowan Convention and Visitors Bureau, Rowan Works economic development commission, Thread Shed and Wheels and Deals.

Donations may be sent to the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 559, Salisbury, N.C., 28145-0559. Checks should be made payable to Salisbury All-America City.

A community send-off for the group will be held 5:30 p.m. today in the City Hall parking lot at 217 S. Main St., with free hot dogs, popcorn and ice cream.

The delegation flies to Denver Friday. The results of the competition will be announced Sunday.
