All-America City delegation over halfway to goal

SALISBURY — More than $18,000 has been raised toward the $30,000 cost of sending a Salisbury delegation to the All-America City Awards competition in Denver, Colo., next week.

Total sponsorships and donations to date are $18,435.

The funds will help send a team of adults and children — including the Mini Funk Band — to tell judges how organizations in Salisbury-Rowan are addressing the needs of local youth. The competition is June 17-19.

Supporting the team with financial contributions so far are:

Hobson, Reid and Mary Sue Leonard, Lutheran Services, Linda McElroy, New Sarum, Ed Norvell, Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center,  Power Curbers, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Rowan Jobs Initiative,  RWBT Inc., SAFHI Inc./Salisbury Hampton Inn, Elaine Spalding, Superior Walls Systems, Town of East Spencer, Trinity Oaks, Walmart, Paul Woodson and Vogue Cleaners, Nancy Wyrick and Anonymous.
