Editorial: Pops perpetuity?

Published 12:00 am Monday, June 6, 2016

Raindrops were indeed falling on our heads, but plenty of people stuck around Saturday night to hear the Salisbury Symphony’s annual outdoor concert, Pops at the Post. What’s a little rain when you have a chance to hear a symphony orchestra play in downtown Salisbury?

No admission is charged for the annual concert, but there is expense involved in bringing together the talented musicians who make it happen. The Salisbury Post provides the location. Donations from generous sponsors have kept the concert going for more than a decade.

Salisbury is fortunate to have the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, which is about to celebrate 50 years of making music, more than half of them under the direction of David Hagy.

If you would like to help maintain the Pops at the Post tradition, tax-deductible donations may be sent to Pops at the Post, P.O. Box 198, Salisbury, NC 28145. You may donate online at www.causes.com.

Many thanks to the sponsors, volunteers and others who help pull it all together. And thanks most of all to Maestro Hagy and the Salisbury Symphony.
