LANDIS — Landis First United Methodist Men will hold a fundraiser  Saturday from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Hot dogs and baked goods will also be for sale. The church is at 209 E. Mill St.

 

Hall’s Chapel holds fundraiser 

Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church annual Matrons and Pastors Aid bake sale plus fish and hot dog sandwiches and plates, Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m., 611 E. Monroe St.

 

Maupin Avenue Presbyterian fundraiser

Maupin Ave. Presbyterian annual bake sale and hot dog fundraiser, Saturday 10:30 a.m.-noon. Proceeds beneift youth mission trip and new children’s ministries. Corner of Fulton Street and Maupin Ave.

 

St. Luke Missionary Baptist celebrates anniversary today 

St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church Gospel Choir is celebrating its anniversary on Saturday at 4 p.m. Any interested group or individual is invited to render a selection or two.

Main St., will recognize this year’s recipients of the George and Ada Fleming, Talbert and Dorothy Howell and Frank and Mary Cress Scholarships.  A total of $26,500 was shared with 28 students seeking both higher and continuing education.

Men’s Day at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist

ROCKWELL — St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church will observe its annual Men’s Day on Sunday at 11 a.m. Speaking will be St. Matthew’s own Rev. John Geter. The 3 p.m. speaker will be the Rev. Tim Bates, pastor of Cameron Presbytrian Church and Calvay Presbyterian Church, both in Statesville. Both choirs will accompany him.

 

Homecoming at Homestead Baptist

KANNAPOLIS — Homestead Baptist Church, corner of 29-A and West 22nd St., will celebrate homecoming on Sunday at 11 a.m. The church will be celebrating 22 years of spiritual service to the community.  The service will be led by Pastor Mitch Thomas.

 

Early summer services at Gloria Dei Lutheran 

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Statesville Boulevard will hold an Early Service of Meditation and Communion Worship at its outdoor amphitheater, from 8:30-9 a.m. every Sunday in June through the end of August.

 

Old Smith Grove View Baptist Church

LEXINGTON — Old Smith Grove View Baptist Church, 882 Linwood Southmont Road, will observe the second appreciation service for pastor James Ledbetter III on Sunday at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Dr. Gray from New Zion Baptist Church of Linwood. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.

 

Men’s Day at Fairview Heights

Fairview Heights Missionary Baptist Church, 704 Old Concord Road, will celebrate its annual Men’s Day on Sunday at 3 p.m. The speaker will be Elder Dwight Moore, pastor of Disciple of Christ Church of Charlotte. The Rev. Clarence E. Marlis is the host pastor.

 

Shepherd’s Care service at Outreach

Outreach Christian Ministries Intl., 722 W. Horah St., will host a Shepherd’s Care service Sunday at 4 p.m. Guest speaker will be Pastor Curtis Friday from The Love Church in Winston-Salem.

 

Inaugural sermon at Trading Ford Baptist

Jeff Long will deliver his first sermon on Sunday at the 6 p.m. service at Trading Ford Baptist Church, 3600 Long Ferry Road. Jeff is a member of Trading Ford as well as a community volunteer, Bible study leader, contributor of faith columns to the Salisbury Post, and a mentor with several recovery groups in the area.

Youth Sunday at The Arbor UMC

The Arbor United Methodist Church, 5545 Woodleaf Road, will observe Youth Sunday on June 5 to celebrate their youth. There will be contemporary music and Dillon Simpson, a student at West Rowan, will have the message. Catawba student Lauren Gaskill is the youth director at The Arbor. Frank and Mary Gordon are co-pastors.

 

Mt. Moriah Lutheran honors grads

CHINA GROVE — Mt. Moriah Lutheran church will honor its high school and college graduates at Sunday worship.

Those graduating are: Summer McAnulty, Zach Walker (Mt. Pleasant); Katie Lipe, Kendall Dabbs, Holly Barnes (South Rowan); Marisa Lentz (Catawba), Carrie Efird (UNCW),  Madalyn Freeman (RCCC) and Randall Tallent (Florida International Univ).

A congregational covered dish lunch will be held in the fellowship hall following the service.

 

Guest speaker at In My Father’s House

In My Father’s House Outreach Ministries, led by the Rev. Roosevelt Jenkins, meets the first two Thursdays of each month.

Guest speaker on Thursday, June 9, is Pastor Dennis Wilson Sr., from Blessed Assurance Outreach Ministries of Gastonia. The service is  from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Hurley Room at Rowan Public Library, 201 W. Innes St. For more information, call 704-492-6086.

 

Pre-anniversary service at Lilly’s Chapel

Lilly’s Chapel Church of God will host a pre-anniversary service for Presiding Elder Dr. Thomas Clawson, pastor, on Friday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Guest speaker will be the Rev. Nathan Bratton, pastor of Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church of Salisbury.

 

Concordia Lutheran 

CHINA GROVE — Concordia Lutheran Church, Hwy 152 West, will lead a Blessing of the Graduates on Sunday at the 11 a.m. service, offering prayers and blessings for graduates Fallon Ritchie (Carson), Thomas Starnes (South Rowan), Kirstie Corriher (NC State), Jill Foster (UNC-Charlotte) and Cassidy Overcash (Cabarrus School of Nursing). Lunch will follow in the Family Life Center. Ken Reed is host pastor.
