Undercover operation ends in two arrests

SALISBURY — Two were arrested Wednesday after Salisbury Police executed a search warrant on a Maple Avenue home.

Lydia Tabitha Nicopulos, 38, and Ernest Anthony Barnhardt, II, 38, were charged with possession after police searched Barnhardt’s 920 Maple Avenue home during a narcotics investigation.

Police spokeswoman Shelia Lingle said an investigation began after police received complaints of drug activity around the home. The search was the result of several weeks of undercover work by the Salisbury Police Department.

Police found a .38 caliber handgun, five grams of crack cocaine and 13 grams of marijuana at the residence.

Barnhardt was charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver, possession of a schedule VI controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.

Nicopulos was charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver, possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance. She was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond.
