Area Sports Briefs: All-region soccer announced

Salisbury junior forward Katie Bullock and sophomore center midfielder Julia Honeycutt were named to the all-region soccer team for 2A.
Making the 3A all-region team were Carson senior goalkeeper Megan Bolick and junior defender Mia Trexler, East Rowan senior midfielder Kelby Porter and South Rowan sophomore midfielder Taylor Mauldin.

In 1A, Gray Stone’s Laurie Fogleman, Annie Habeeb, Wesleigh Harrington, Katie Hill, Kelsey Kiser, Kate Sullivan and Alex Disser were named to the all-region team.
Habeeb was named to the 1A All-State team.
In 4A, Davie’s Katleyn Hernandez and Melani Anderson were all-region players.

Intimidators
The Augusta GreenJackets used a four-run fifth inning to beat the Kannapolis Intimidators, 5-3, on Monday at Intimidators Stadium.
Kannapolis (20-31) rallied to bring the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning but fell short in the series opener.
Seth Harrison hit a three-run homer for Augusta.
Johnathan Frebis (4-3) took the loss for Kannapolis, allowing four runs in the fifth inning.
The Intimidators continue the three-game series against the GreenJackets tonight at 7:05 p.m.
Tuesday’s game is an Arby’s Two-for-Tuesday with 2-for-1 tickets with any Arby’s proof of purchase. It’s also Senior Night with free admission for Senior Club members featuring between-innings BINGO.

American Legion
Rowan County is back in action tonight after taking two days off.
Rowan will host Greensboro at Newman Park at 7 p.m.

Prep soccer
Carson’s Colton Correll has signed with Pfeiffer.
Carson’s Ricky Maldanado plans to sign today. He committed earlier to UNC Pembroke.
