SALISBURY — A Rockwell couple expected to appear in court for a hearing to address alleged abuse charges will have to return next month.

Ronald Lee Rhinehardt is accused of shaking his 8-week-old baby girl so hard he broke the baby’s arm, several ribs and leg. Rowan authorities charged the infant’s mother, Angela Kay Moneymaker Rhinehardt, with knowing about the abuse and doing nothing.

They have each been charged with felony child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. Ronald Rhinehardt, 33, remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $555,000 secured bond. His wife, Angela Rhinehardt, 32, has since been released from the county jail. She appeared in court accompanied by her attorney, Tom King.
The two were scheduled for a probable cause hearing Wednesday, but the matter was continued to June 8. The abuse came to light while investigators were looking into the two being possible suspects in a number of break-ins. Investigators said Ronald Rhinehardt shook the baby and the mother knew but did not take the child to be examined.
The pair are scheduled for a June 8 court date regarding the breaking and entering charges.
