SALISBURY — A woman has been charged in regards to a fire that broke out at Bradshaw Auto Sales on Thursday night.

Rowan Sheriff’s Office reports say Sherry Donaldson, 39, stole a BMW from Bradshaw Auto Sales at 5785 S. Main St. According to Captain John Sifford, Donaldson’s boyfriend, Rickie Nail, a salesman at Bradshaw, had custody of the car.

Donaldson drove the car to the dealership and set a Honda that was parked on the lot on fire. She also set fire to the building.

Donaldson was arrested at Nail’s residence on Lakeview Road. She was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, burning a building, burning personal property and larceny.

The sheriff’s department recovered the car Donaldson stole and the keys to other vehicles that she took from the dealership. The owner of the dealership requested that the recovered items be given to Nail.

Emergency personnel had the fire under control after about 25 minutes.

Donaldson was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and issued a $60,000 bond.
