KANNAPOLIS — Kannapolis Police have arrested a China Grove man in the murder of Arthur Lee “Buddy” Davis, 79, who was found dead in his mobile home Tuesday morning.

David Myron Dover, 53, of 130 Haven Trail, China Grove, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and driving with a revoked license. He is being held without bond in the Rowan County Detention Center.

The two men knew each other and were co-workers at a Kannapolis car dealership. Davis was found in his Chris Ann Lane home Tuesday morning when his girlfriend told his employer that she could not get in touch with him.

Dover has a criminal history dating to 1979. He has been charged with breaking and entering and larceny in the past. He has additional charges in Rowan, Cabarrus, Iredell and Cleveland counties, including being a habitual felon, assault on a female, burglary and more.

As with all criminal investigations, investigative efforts don’t cease with the arrest. This is still a very active, dynamic and ongoing criminal investigation so further details or releases of information will be limited. Dover’s first court appearance is Friday in Rowan County District Court.
