Crews respond to transformer, oil fire at Southern Power plant

According to scanner traffic,  around 10:45 p.m. Monday night, crews were called to a large transformer fire and subsequent transformer oil fire at the Southern Power plant at 5755 N.C. Hwy. 801. Crews immediately called for a second alarm.

Haz-mat units were also dispatched to the fire. Around 11:30 p.m., a foam truck from the fire station at the Army National Guard was called to the scene.

The fire was reported to be out at 12:02 a.m. Numerous units responded from area departments.
