Mooresville man ID’d as second gunshot victim in Davidson homicide

Davidson County authorities have identified a Mooresville resident as one of two men found dead in a car near Lexington last week. A Salisbury man had already been identified as one of the victims.
Kevin Michael Caldwell, 27, of Patterson Street, was the second man found shot to death in a 2007 Crown Victoria that was in a shed on a property 5 miles from Lextington, toward Mocksville.
Joseph Dominque Anderson, also 27, of the 1000 block of Barbour Street, Salisbury, was the other victim. Davidson Sheriff David Grice said both men were found in the front seat of the vehicle. Anderson was the driver.
On Friday at 5:28 a.m. the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in the 4000 block of U.S. 64 west. When deputies arrived, they discovered two deceased African-American males in a vehicle.
Another vehicle went through a shed and crashed into the second, where the bodies were found.
Grice has said investigators do not believe the men died as a result of the crash. Published media reports say the vehicle the men were found inside was a Crown Victoria believed to once belong to the Greensboro Police Department.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation that culminated at the U.S. 64 site at 12:30 p.m. Grice said the investigation is continuing away from the site.
No arrests had been made as of Monday.
