KCS, Cabarrus BOEs to meet

Cabarrus County Schools

The Cabarrus County Board of Education will hold a public hearing Monday for its 2016-17 budget. The meeting, beginning at 6 p.m. in the board room at the education center on 4401 Old Airport Road, Concord, will also include budget requests for the next fiscal year. According to an online agenda, Cabarrus County Commissioners approved $2.1 million in funding — including more than $800,000 for 10 new school buses and $800,000 for new mobile units. The system is requesting a $5 million budget increase for expansion and a $1.4 million increase for technology operating expenses.

The system will also consider increasing teacher allotments by more than $2 million and providing an additional $1 million, or an average 12 percent increase, in teacher supplements. The board is also considering $480,000 for eight integrated mental health responders.

Kannapolis City Schools

The Kannapolis City Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 4, in the board room located in the central office at 100 Denver Street in Kannapolis. The board will receive an update on curriculum and instruction.
