Rowan weather: Flash flood watch tonight

Rowan County is under a flash flood watch from 6 tonight until 6 p.m. Wednesday, with a lot of rain expected.
A large low pressure system will move over the mountains and into the Piedmont through the next two days, bringing the possibility of stream and creek flooding, as well as strong to severe thunderstorms on Wednesday. One to 2 additional inches of rain can be expected.
Today will have a 100 percent of chance of rain, with a high of 48. Tonight, the low will be 45, with northeast wind at 6-8 mph. The chance of rain is 90 percent. About three-quarters of an inch of rain is expected today.
Wednesday’s chance of rain is also 90 percent, with thunderstorms possible after 11 a.m. Patchy fog is also likely. The high will be a warm 66, with east wind at 8-18 mph shifting to the south in the afternoon. Gusts up to 30 mph are possible. Three-quarters to an inch of rain is expected.
Wednesday night has a 60 percent chance of rain and storms, with a low of 40 and southwest wind at 14-18 mph and gusts as high as 25 mph.
We get a break from the rain Thursday, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 51. Winds will still be a problem, with a west wind at 14-20 mph and gusts up to 29 mph. Thursday night’s low will be 31.
Friday will be sunny with a high of 48 and a low of 27.
Saturday should be sunny, too, with a high of 49 and a low of 32.
Sunday will be warmer, with a high of 57 and a low of 37.
Monday, too, will be mostly sunny, with a high near 61.
