Police officials say a former Harbor Freight employee was caught on store video taking video recorders from the East Innes Street store.

Salisbury Police charged Cameron Mack Thompson, 38, of the 500 block of Cedar Street, with felony embezzlement. He was spotted on the store’s surveillance video taking the recorders. Police say he took five recorders from the store valued at $647.

He was reselling the equipment, officials said.

Thompson remains in the Rowan County jail under a $1,000 secured bond.

He has been convicted of habitual felon, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, assault by strangulation, assault inflicting serious injury, indecent liberties with a child, and failing to register as a sex offender.
