Stokes County man charged in Rowan with drug trafficking

Rowan authorities charged a Stokes County man with drug trafficking Tuesday after a two-month-long investigation.

Danny Norman Stroud, 41, of the 500 block of Ingram Drive, Apt. 6A, King, was charged with six counts of trafficking in opiates and one count possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a schedule IV controlled substance.

He was arrested in the 100 block of N.C. 801, Woodleaf. Stroud tried to sell 51 alprazolam tablets on Dec. 16, as well as other drugs on Dec. 4, Dec. 16 and Jan. 4, arrest warrants show.

Stroud was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $600,000 secured bond. He has previously been convicted of assault on a female, habitual felon, breaking and entering vehicles, felony larceny, possession of stolen goods, traffic infractions including hit and run.
