Rowan weather: Nice day today; rain Friday

Today should be sunny and quite pleasant, with a high of 56. Southwest winds will continue, at 3-8 mph. Clouds move in overnight, with a low of 34 and continued southwest winds.

Rain for Friday, mainly after noon, with a cooler high of 48. The wind will shift to the east northeast in the afternoon. The chance of rain is 80 percent. Showers are likely before midnight, with a 70 percent chance of rain and cloudy skies. The low will be 37. Winds from the north, then shifting to the southwest again.

It clears out for Saturday, when it will be mostly sunny and 53. Winds from the west will blow at 6-8 mph.

Here’s where it gets interesting — we have a slight chance of rain showers overnight Saturday, with snow possibly mixing in at some point. The low will be 33.

Sunday has a chance of rain and snow before 10 a.m., then a chance of rain, then it becomes partly sunny, with a high of 44. Sunday night will be very cold, with a low of 21.

For Martin Luther King Day, expect mostly sunny skies but a very cold high of just 35 degrees. Monday night, we drop to the teens — 19 — so take care of the elderly, pets and your plumbing.

Tuesday will be sunny, too, with a high of 37 and a low of 22, another very cold day.

More sun on Wednesday, with a few clouds and a warmer high of 43.
