Melissa Daniels Newton graduated from Virginia State University during winter commencement with a Doctor of Education degree. Dr. Daniels Newton currently serves as Interim Chief Academic Officer for Teaching and Learning with Danville Public Schools in Virginia and will resume duties as Director for School Improvement, Research and Accountability with Danville in July 2016. The daughter of John A. Daniels and the late Betty Cross Daniels, she holds degrees from Hampton University and Longwood University; earned administrative licensure from the University of Virginia; and is a 1984 graduate of West Rowan High School.
