For the thousands of Girl Scout cookie lovers in Anson, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Montgomery, Rowan, Stanly, Union and York counties, cookies are coming to town thanks to the Girl Scouts Hornets’ Nest Council.

Beginning today, Girl Scout cookie orders are accepted by a local scout through her personalized website or through traditional ordering methods.

By conducting business online, a Girl Scout learns important skills like website customization and e-commerce. Cookies ordered online also arrive within three to five business days.

Girl Scout cookies ordered through traditional methods such as door-to-door sales will be delivered starting in February 2016. Booth sales are slated to begin Feb. 12, 2016.

The young female entrepreneurs acquire essential business skills with each purchase made like goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics that help shape their future as leaders.

With nearly 19,000 girls and adults in the eight-county area, the Girl Scouts Hornets’ Nest Council has a cookie on everyone’s must-have list. The 2016 cookie roster is:

     Do-si-dos are crunchy oatmeal sandwich cookies with creamy peanut butter filling. ($4)

     Rah Rah Raisins are hearty oatmeal cookies with plump raisins and Greek yogurt-flavored chunks. ($4)

     Samoas: These crisp cookies, coated in caramel, are sprinkled with toasted coconut and striped with a dark chocolate coating. ($4)

     Savannah Smiles are crisp, zesty lemon wedge cookies dusted with powdered sugar. ($4)

     Tagalongs are layered with peanut butter and covered with a chocolate coating. ($4)

     Thin Mints: Made with natural oil of peppermint, these crisp wafers are covered in chocolate. ($4)

     Toffee-tastic: Introduced in 2015, these gluten-free, rich buttery cookies are packed with golden toffee bits. ($5 via booth and digital sales only)

     Trefoils are delicate-tasting shortbread cookies that are delightfully simple and satisfying. ($4)
