In his bid for re-election, China Grove radio station owner Carl Ford hopes to build on previous Republican reforms in Raleigh.

Ford, 58, is the 76th State House District’s two-term representative. He was the first person to file locally for the March 2016 primary election and hopes voters will elect him to a third term to “finish what we’ve started in Raleigh.”

“I want to continue on with the good things we’re doing, including tax reform,” Ford said. “We want to give people more of their money back so they can spend it how they see fit.”

Two weeks remain in the filing period, but Ford doesn’t yet have any competition in the March 2016 Republican primary. Ford said he does his best to represent his constituents in the 76th District.

“I try to do my best and talk to as many of my constituents as I can,” Ford said. “I’m not saying I haven’t missed a call, but I’ve met with an awful lot of people in the past years.”

Ford is an Eagle Scout and graduate of A.L. Brown High School. He finished a course of study in textiles at Rowan Tech, now Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, and attended the N.C. College of Textile Technology for one and a half years. During his career, Ford worked at Cannon Mills.

Currently, Ford is the owner of Ford Broadcasting, which operates 1140 WRNA in China Grove and 1460 WRKB in Kannapolis

Ford and his wife Angela have four children.

Ford attends City Revival Church in Kannapolis.
