Carson High students grateful for China trip

In June, Carson High School took six students and five adults on a trip of a lifetime to several areas of China ending with a day visiting our sister school.

The students visited the Great Wall of China, Olympic grounds, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, rickshaw tour of the Hutong District, visited a school focused on Opera performance, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, partook in a tea ceremony all in Beijing.

After Beijing, the crew flew to Xi’an where they spent a day biking the old city wall and getting to venture around the Terracotta Warriors. The final leg of the journey took us to Shanghai and tour of a silk factory, night boat ride, acrobatics show, Jade Buddha Temple, World Financial Tour, Shanghai Zoo, and finished with a day at our sister school, Nantong Middle.

The staff and students had a trip of a lifetime. Being immersed in the culture gives students a perspective that they would not normally see in school, this immersion brings greater understanding of the culture in which they study.

The students and staff would like to thank the Rowan- Salisbury Board of Education and Dr. Moody for allowing the students to receive such a wonderful experience that they will never forget.

Liberal double standard

This is the left-wing liberal thought process in my opinion: If a Republican is in office and anything bad happens, it’s their fault. If anything good happens, it wasn’t their conservative policies. It would have happened anyway.

If a Democrat is in office and anything bad happens, it wasn’t their fault because it was out of their control. If anything good happens it’s because of their liberal policies.

In other words, Republicans can do no right and Democrats can do no wrong.

In 2008, then Senator Obama, while campaigning for president, said that Bush was un-American for $4 trillion in debt. Obama has run up $8 trillion debt in less time.

What does that make him? Are they saying the Bush debt was bad debt and the Obama debt good debt?

In recent polls, a lot of Democrats say they believe that Hillary Clinton is a liar and is not trustworthy. Yet most of them will still probably vote for her.

These same people would call for a Republican candidate to drop out of the race if it was discovered that they had told so much as a little white lie in their lifetime.

Sound like a double standard?
