Update: Flash flood watch; Rowan weather: Rainy days and Mondays …

Published 7:57 am Monday, November 2, 2015

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS EXPANDED THE FLOOD WATCH TO INCLUDE
ROWAN COUNTY THROUGH THIS EVENING.

2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAINFALL IS EXPECTED BY THE END OF THE DAY TODAY. GIVEN
THE RECENT RAINFALL OVER THE AREA…THIS ADDITIONAL RAINFALL COULD LEAD
TO SLOW RISES ALONG CREEKS AND STREAMS…AND EVEN SOME MAIN STEM RIVERS.
CURRENT RADAR AND MODEL TRENDS SUPPORT THE EXTENSION OF AREAS OF
EXCESSIVE RAIN FROM THE
SOUTHWEST INTO THE WATCH AREA.

Instructions: A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING
BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE
ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO
FLOODING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
