Rowan weather: Thunderstorms could become severe

Pretty warm out there for a morning in late October, and that means we will have thunderstorms today, with the possibility of some becoming severe.

The chief threat will be heavy downpours, with damaging wind gusts and possible hail.

With an 80 percent chance of rain today, thunderstorms could start as early as 10 a.m. The high will be 70, and winds will blow from the south at 9-11 mph, with gusts up to 18 mph.

Tonight, the chance off rain drops to 50 percent, but showers and storms are still possible before 11 p.m., with a few showers after that. The skies will clear and the low will be 55 degrees, with southwest wind at 5-9 mph.

Thursday will be mostly sunny and warm, 73, with a light southwest breeze. Thursday night will be clear, allowing the temperature to drop to 45.

Friday will be sunny and 65, with winds from the north at 3-7 mph. The low will be 39.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high of 64 and a low of 50.

A 30 percent chance of rain drifts in for Sunday, with mostly cloudy skies and a high of 65. The chance of rain goes to 40 percent Sunday night, with a low of 56.

Monday has a 50 percent chance of showers, mostly cloudy skies and a high of 68. Then the chance of rain drops back to 40 percent Monday night, with a low of 64.

Tuesday should be mostly sunny and 70.
